I need you all to know that I am truly trying my hardest to keep up with blogging again. Everytime I try to think of something to blog about, I overwhelm myself and blow it off. There's so much to talk about, but all the topics are so in depth. I tend to lose myself in blogs sometimes.... thus, losing my readers. For instance, the last blog (the first one) I posted was a hot mess. Who gives a shit about my brief family back history? I mean... really. I could have come up with so much better stuff. I just didn't know where to start. Like I mentioned in that blog though, I love the randomness of blogs, and I think I will stick to that.
Yesterday was Mother's Day. It was (kind of) my first Mother's Day, since I am carrying a child currently. My Mom says that I should def be able to be in on Mother's Day, but the gifts don't come until I have "earned" them... which means my child actually needs to be born before she gets me anything, haha. Keegan tried to be sneaky and ran out first thing in the morning to buy me my favorite confetti roses, and a card. I obviously knew what he was doing, but it was appreciated just the same.
We were supposed to meet my family at IHOP for an 11:00am brunch yesterday morning. I had got my mom the dustbuster she asked for, and we were ready to go. 10:15am rolls around, and I get a call from mother.
Me: Hello?
Mom: Hi. Don't leave. We're not going.
Me: Why....?
Mom: I don't feel like it.
Me: Why...?
Mom: Because Joey isn't even UP yet... and I just don't feel like it!
Me: Okay... Well, do you think you'll wanna do something later?
Mom: No... I don't know. I haven't even gotten that far.
Me: Alright. Well we'll be over in a bit to bring you your present.
Mom: Okay.
So we go over, and it's anarchy... as usual. My mom is all pissed because Joey slept late and didn't do any of his chores, and didn't bother getting ready for brunch. Not only that, he was arguing about doing his chores instead of just doing them. She was also mad at Lauren because even though my mom drove up to Newton to help her clean and pack up her dorm room and bring her home, she went right to Tom's house last night. On top of that, Lauren was swearing and yelling at my mom about how she won't put up with her "bullshit" and so on. And lastly, my dad and Lauren had made some snide remarks about my mom cutting her hair too short and looking like a man. They didn't exactly say that, but she took it that way. All in all, not a good morning for anyone in that house.
About 20 minutes later I had convinced her that we should just go to brunch. I even told her to leave everyone else behind if she was that pissed. I believe I phrased it as, "just because your other children suck, doesn't mean WE can't go." We all ended up going, and the rest of the meal was pleasant from there on out.
After IHOP, I brought my sister back to our new place so she could see it, while my parents and Joey stayed in Hyannis for a bit to buy new phones. Nearly 2 hours later, my parents showed up at my house to pick up Lauren - who I had made watch Steve-O's Demise and Rise, and an episode of Intervention with me out of boredom.
Keegan left shortly after we got back from brunch to go over and start cleaning the apartment. I offered to go with him, but he wasn't interested. I would just be in his way... and I can't really use cleaners, nor be around an apartment filled with them - you know, due to the fumes. While over there, he realized that the smoke damage from all the weed we smoked in our bedroom for 4 years was so bad, that it could not be cleaned off the walls... and they'd need to be repainted completely. Also, our landlord was not aware that we painted our living room red and orange. He knew we painted, he knew we painted a color (or colors) other than white - he even paid for the paint! He just never asked what colors, and we never offered up the info. So when Keegan went to spackle all the holes we'd put in the walls from all the pictures we had hanging... there are now big white blotches all over the red and orange walls. What does this mean? These walls will also need to be painted. We sent an e-mail to our landlord last night detailing the situation, hoping he'd planned on re-painting the whole apartment anyway. What he still doesn't know is that he needs to replace the rugs in the bedroom and living room as well... due to the burns we've put in them. OK, I'm making it sound like we trashed the place... but really, it's just 4 years of wear and tear.
Anyway, the most important part of the day was going to Sundae School to get Milky Way ice cream in a waffle cone. It's all I could think about all afternoon, but I could not get a single soul on board with me to go. And, really, unless you drive through for your ice cream... it's just sad to go get an ice cream alone. So, after many attempts at an ice cream buddy, Chelsea came through for me. She even came to my house, picked me up, brought me there, and dropped me right back off. The ice cream was freakin delicious and it was exactly what I needed and wanted. It was a happy Mother's Day for me indeed!
